Staar Surgical shares advanced Friday after the company said its board authorized a $50 million share-buyback program.
Shares rose 6.3% to $20.27.
The vision-correction solutions company said the decision was based on the board's confidence in its business progress, as well as its strong balance sheet and free-cash-flow levels.
Shares have been under pressure in 2026, down about 12% since the start of the year including the day's trading. The stock is down 24% over the last 52 weeks.
The company currently has $181.5 million in liquidity to use towards the repurchases, it said.
