Kansas City Fed Services Index Rises in September, Indicates Neither Expansion nor Contraction

11:17 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Kansas City Federal Reserve's monthly composite services index rose to a reading of 0 in September after falling to minus 3 in August, compared with a smaller increase expected to minus 1 in a survey compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:25 am ET. The index indicates neither expansion nor contraction, which is in line with the Richmond Fed index. Other regional services measures have pointed to contraction but the S&P flash services reading pointed to faster expansion. There was an increase in the Kansas City revenue/sales reading to 6 from 0, while the employment reading fell to minus 10 from minus 4. The reading of selling prices rose to 21 from 8, while the input price index rose to 53 from 46.
