01:09 PM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) each adding 0.3%. In corporate news, Costco Wholesale (COST) reported better-than-expected earnings and revenue for its fiscal Q4, though the warehouse chain's comparable sales growth missed market estimates. Its shares rose 2.6%.
