Akamai Technologies (AKAM): An $11.6 billion cloud-services deal with Anthropic sent shares in the company soaring 20% premarket, but enthusiasm faded throughout the day and shares closed only 3.2% higher.
People (PPLI): Barry Diller's company has gone from potential acquirer of MGM Resorts International (MGM) to a possible target for the casino operator, The Wall Street Journal reported. Shares in People climbed 11%.
Nanexa (SE:NANEXA): Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk agreed to pay up to $1.3 billion to license and develop the Swedish pharmaceutical company's drug-delivery technology, which could help cut the frequency with which patients need to inject obesity and diabetes drugs. Shares of Nanexa more than doubled.
Costco Wholesale (COST): The company reported a higher profit and rising sales in its fiscal fourth quarter, citing continued spending from consumers undeterred by sticky inflation. Shares ticked 2.9% higher.
