06:05 AM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Treasuries open weaker in Asia and US equity futures slip as oil prices gain, according to Commerzbank Research in a note. President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's proposal on the Strait of Hormuz and is considering further military action after the midterm elections, according to The Wall Street Journal. He also expects additional talks with Iran this week, Axios reports. Meanwhile, Iran is maintaining its seven-day proposal and says it won't soften its demands, wrote Commerzbank. President Trump approves new fuel-economy standards that end the electric vehicle mandate. Trump also says he is "very seriously" considering a ban on diesel exports. The European Union has warned member states of a potential energy-price crisis and urged them to consider measures to reduce demand, according to Bloomberg. Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Beth Hammack says long-term yields reflect robust economic growth, elevated US debt levels and expectations for the future path of interest rates. European Central Bank Governing Council (GC) member Borsi Vujcic says the key risk is that energy prices remain "higher for longer." GC member Emmanuel Moulin says it would be "bad reasoning" to expect the ECB to help tackle France's debt, adding that there is no "miracle solution." The French government is considering changes to payroll-tax deduction calculations that could raise an additional 3 billion to 3.5 billion euros in revenue for the 2027 budget, according to daily Les Echos. In Asia, Bank of Japan minutes show members agreed that further rate hikes remain appropriate, added Commerzbank.
