Sector Update: Consumer

01:34 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Monday afternoon with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) rising 0.1% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) shedding 1.1%. In corporate news, Paramount Skydance's (PSKY) plan to raise over $44 billion from dollar and euro bond sales to finance its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has been set in motion as Bank of America (BAC) and Citigroup (C) started holding calls to gauge investor interest, Bloomberg reported. Paramount shares rose 3.9%.
