Sector Update: Energy

01:43 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks advanced Monday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.4% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) climbing 0.2%. The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index fell 0.6%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index dropped 0.5%. West Texas Intermediate crude oil was little changed at $92.39 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent rose 0.7% to $105.05 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures declined 4.5% to $3.05 per 1 million BTU. In corporate news, BP (BP) is weighing its options for its Brazilian biofuels business, including potentially selling the unit, Bloomberg reported. BP shares gained 1.1%.
