Canada Commodities: Oil Prices Fall on Reports the US and Iran Are Still Communicating

09:57 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Oil prices fell Tuesday morning on reports the United States is not completely ruling out a deal with Iran. Al Jazeera reported US Vice President JD Vance said a deal was still possible with Iran as long as that country "honour their commitments" to the US. Qatar is also delivering messages between Iran and the US, Al Jazeera added. West Texas Intermediate November crude oil futures, the US benchmark, fell 2.3% to $90.46 per barrel. November Brent oil futures, the international benchmark, edged down 1.6% to $103.60 a barrel. Comex gold December futures reversed a losing trend and climbed 0.6% to $4,192.40 per ounce, despite a stronger greenback and stubbornly high US Treasury yields, which continued to inch up. In agricultural commodities, December wheat futures advanced 0.2% to $6.90 per bushel, while canola futures for November were 1.3% higher, to CA$819.50 per tonne.
