NewAmsterdam Pharma Doses First Participant in Phase 2b Trial for Preclinical Alzheimer's Disease

10:23 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- NewAmsterdam Pharma (NAMS) has dosed the first participant in phase 2b Spinoza clinical trial evaluating obicetrapib in individuals with preclinical Alzheimer's disease, the biopharmaceutical company said Tuesday. The Spinoza study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of obicetrapib in about 400 participants with preclinical Alzheimer's disease, the company said, adding that the participants will be randomized 1:1 by genotype to receive obicetrapib 10 mg or placebo for 52 weeks. Following the double-blind treatment period, participants may enter a 26-week open-label extension study, under which, all participants will receive obicetrapib, NewAmsterdam Pharma further said.
