Sector Update: Tech Stocks Mixed Tuesday Afternoon

01:38 PM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were mixed Tuesday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) easing 0.1% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) rising 0.4%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor index advanced 1.4%. In sector news, smart ring maker Oura delayed its planned initial public offering, joining a growing list of companies that are postponing plans to go public in the US amid market uncertainty. In corporate news, Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI's annual recurring revenue is nearing $70 billion, as enterprise sales more than doubled since July, Axios reported. Separately, OpenAI said it opted to hold off on releasing its GPT-6.1 Astra model after determining that it did not meet the company's safety and alignment standards. Microsoft shares were shedding 0.5%. New Apple (AAPL) Chief Executive John Ternus has discussed plans internally to accelerate product development, broaden its range of devices and create a leaner organization with a greater focus on engineering, Bloomberg reported. Shares fell 2%. Nokia (NOK) shares rose 2% after the company said Zain KSA deployed its Deepfield Cloud Intelligence platform across its network in over 100 cities in Saudi Arabia.
