Aave gains 11% since midnight UTC this Tuesday, September 29, while Stani Kulechov, its founder, is considering a burn in Aavenomics 3.0. All this while the US 10-year yield stays at 5.234%. The crypto market does not seem impressed at all.

In brief

  • Aave gains 11% since midnight UTC and 13% over 24 hours, the best DeFi rise.
  • Stani Kulechov considers a burn mechanism in Aavenomics 3.0.
  • 72 out of 100 crypto tokens progress, despite a US 10-year yield of 5.234%.

Crypto: Aave Climbs 11% on the Track of a Token Burn

Aave stands out. The token gains 11% since midnight UTC and 13% over 24 hours, at $166.55 according to CoinDesk, and it is the strongest increase among the 20 values of the CoinDesk 20. The trigger? Speculation around “Aavenomics 3.0” that Stani Kulechov, protocol founder, indicated considering adding a burn mechanism in the next update. The crypto market heard the word “burn” and buyers followed.

And the backdrop is not welcoming because the US 10-year yield is at 5.234%, close to levels not seen since 2007. The 30-year is at 5.549%, after a peak above 5.56% Monday, near a 2004 high. Wall Street therefore fell for the second consecutive session with the S&P 500 down 0.8% and the Nasdaq 0.9%. Yet, DeFi advances as the DeFi Select index (DFX) gains 5.0% since midnight. Curve (CRV) adds 5.2% and Uniswap (UNI) 4.0%.

On the other hand, bitcoin erases Monday’s losses and trades at $84,170, up 0.82% since midnight UTC and 1.4% over 24 hours. Bears’ bets on the crypto queen are deflating. Open positions on futures fall to 644,000 BTC, down from 650,000 yesterday, the lowest since March 4.

A Burn Planned, But not Decided

Stani Kulechov is considering burns in Aavenomics 3.0 and Aave is already buying back tokens. Today, these cryptos sleep in the protocol’s treasury. A burn is different because the tokens are destroyed and permanently removed from supply. That means fewer tokens for the same demand and this is exactly the reasoning making buyers smile.

The only slight downside is that it is little for a token that gains 11%. And nothing, in the reviewed archives, on the timeline or on the number of tokens involved. The word “considers” said by Stani does not mean “decides”. The crypto market didn’t wait to go in all directions.

What to Take Away from Aave’s 11% Gain?

  • Aave gains 11% since midnight UTC and 13% over 24 hours, driven by the idea of a crypto burn in Aavenomics 3.0.
  • Stani Kulechov considers this mechanism, but the consulted publications give neither timeline nor volume.
  • DeFi leads the crypto market: DFX gains 5.0% and 72 out of 100 values of the CoinDesk 100 rise, despite a US 10-year yield of 5.234%.

Aave found its fuel of the day with the word “burn”, and an 11% increase. It remains to be seen if the crypto protocol moves from idea to a real quantified plan. The answer will most certainly come from the official announcement of Aavenomics 3.0, not from a simple post on X.
