According to foreign media reports, Japan's largest power producer JERA will cooperate with Dell (DELL.US) and UK-based AI infrastructure developer RHAELM to accelerate the construction of AI infrastructure in Japan. The three parties have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a standardized framework for AI infrastructure construction across the country. According to their statement, this model will first be applied to a project in Chiba. JERA will provide land adjacent to its Chiba power plant, while RHAELM will be responsible for developing, building, operating, and financing a 400-megawatt hyperscale AI data center. A JERA official said the parties plan to launch the new data center in phases starting in 2028, with the center reaching its full capacity of 400 megawatts in 2029. According to a 15- to 25-year agreement, JERA will provide 400 megawatts of power capacity, while Dell will supply standardized rack-level AI infrastructure.
