Expert Shares Very Good News for XRP Holders
Crypto commentator Austin Hilton has shared what he calls good news for XRP holders, and it has nothing to do with XRP’s price today. The news comes from a macroeconomic data release that Hilton says matters to every crypto holder, including those holding XRP, Bitcoin, and Ethereum.
The Personal Consumption Expenditures index, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, came in at 3.4%. Analysts expected 3.7%. Hilton called the gap pretty significant, noting that many assumed inflation would stay elevated given rising fuel costs.
Diesel prices drive the cost of goods across rail and road networks globally. Petroleum feeds into plastics and manufacturing. The lower PCE reading defied those pressures.
Rate Hike Urgency Falls
The practical result is a reduced urgency for the Fed to raise its base interest rate at its next meeting. Hilton explained that this matters directly to XRP holders. Higher interest rates pull investors away from risk assets like crypto. A pause or hold on rate hikes removes that pressure.
Hilton explained that this could “quell some of the urgency for another interest rate hike next month.” He also noted that the PCE measures consumer-level spending, not the Producer Price Index, which tracks manufacturer costs. That distinction matters. Consumer inflation cooling is the signal the Fed watches most closely when deciding on rate moves.
Where the Market Stands
XRP was down by 3% on the 24-hour chart at the time of the video, though up more than 10% over the prior month. Hilton noted significant gains over the prior 45 days. The overall crypto market sat at $2.88 trillion, up 0.6% on the day. Ethereum was down 1%, and Bitcoin was roughly flat.
Hilton said he wants to see the total market cap climb to $3.8 trillion and $4 trillion. He expects retail investors to move in aggressively once sustained upward price action takes hold.
The Bigger Picture for XRP
Hilton positioned this as a mid-to-long-term development rather than an immediate price catalyst. He acknowledged the good news is not yet showing up in XRP’s price but said holders should expect it to change.
He said macro conditions are shifting in crypto’s favor and that XRP holders already in position stand to benefit as the rate environment potentially eases. The PCE surprise is one early signal pointing in that direction.
