Anchor Capital says JSE falls 5.8% in September as precious metal miners drag index

- Precious metal miners drove the decline, with gold miners down 15% and platinum miners down 7%, cutting index performance by over 3%.
- Naspers fell 12% and Prosus slid 8%, trimming about 1% from September performance as Tencent dropped 5%.
- Domestic cyclicals weakened 3.3%, while general retailers rose 5% as Shoprite gained 6% and Boxer climbed 3.6%.
- SARB lifted rates 0.25% to a 10.75% prime lending rate; the rand ended at R 16.42 per dollar; the 10-year yield rose to 9%.
