Another Altcoin on the Path to an ETF! Founder Gives a Date: All Eyes on the SEC!

BitcoinSistemiBitcoinSistemi2026/10/05 11:42

Following Bitcoin and Ethereum, ETF products for various altcoins, primarily XRP, have taken their place in the US market. As the altcoin ETF market continues to expand in the US, news has emerged for yet another altcoin.

Accordingly, Injective (INJ) co-founder and CEO Eric Chen stated that the launch of spot INJ ETFs in the US may not happen until 2027.

Chen’s statement has reignited expectations regarding ETF applications in the US that will follow INJ.

“2027 Might Be a Little Too Far Away!”

Speaking to The Block, Eric Chen avoided giving a specific date for when INJ ETFs in the US would begin trading. However, Chen stated that 2027 is a rather distant date for a spot INJ ETF in the US, suggesting that the ETF launch could happen sooner.

Chen said, “I can’t comment on a precise timeframe, but I think 2027 is a bit too far off. Actually, it’s much earlier than I expected, so we’ll see.”

Two ETF Applications on the Agenda!

Chen currently has two pending applications with the US SEC. The first is the 21Shares Injective ETF, and the second is the Canary Staked INJ ETF, which includes staking features.

21Shares filed Form S-1/A with the SEC in September 2026 regarding its ETF application. The application states that the fund’s primary objective is to track the price performance of INJ and that it plans to be listed on Nasdaq.

Canary Capital had already submitted its initial application for the INJ ETF, which will feature staking, in the US in 2025.

Injective Focuses on the Corporate Sector!

Chen’s ETF announcement comes as Injective expands its corporate reach in the U.S. Noting that Injective Institutional Services became a SEC-registered transfer agent in August, Chen stated that this is just the beginning and they will be working towards obtaining more licenses in the coming period.

Finally, Chen noted that Injective completed the notification and publication process of INJ’s MiCA technical document in July, and that INJ is now on the provisional register of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). He stated that this is a step towards INJ beginning to trade in the EU, adding that obtaining a license in the region is a slow process, which is why Injective works with firms that already have licenses.

Updated Version 3 - According to the Financial Times, McKesson and CD&R are close to reaching a deal worth more than $5 billion to acquire Option Care.

In the fifth paragraph, a quote from analyst Sahil Pandey was added. Reuters, October 5 - According to the Financial Times, citing informed sources, pharmaceutical distributor McKesson (MCK.N) and private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice are about to reach an acquisition agreement to purchase infusion service provider Option Care Health, with the deal valued (including debt) at over 5 billions USD. After the report was published, Option Care's share price rose by 21% in after-hours trading. The report stated that the deal could be announced as early as Tuesday, but negotiations could still fall through. This potential acquisition would be McKesson’s latest move in expanding its healthcare services portfolio. In August this year, the company agreed to acquire Precision Medicine Group for about 2.25 billions USD (link), as part of its effort over the years to strengthen high-growth business sectors. Leerink Partners analyst Michael Cherny said the “strategic logic” of the deal makes sense, as it would expand McKesson’s business from physician offices to care settings in the home and alternative sites. Option Care provides infusion services that allow patients to receive intravenous treatments at home or other outpatient settings, eliminating the need to go to the hospital. McKesson has previously been restructuring its business portfolio by divesting non-core assets and investing in fields such as oncology and specialty care (link). Driven by the growth of its specialty distribution business and contributions from acquisitions, revenue for its oncology and multi-specialty business segment grew by 33% in the latest fiscal quarter. McKesson declined to comment, while CD&R and Option Care did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment regarding the report.
