GENIUS Act Will Positively Impact XRP. Here’s the Proof
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency took a significant step on October 21. The OCC finalized its rules implementing the GENIUS Act, becoming the first federal regulator to complete the stablecoin framework Congress passed in July 2025. Crypto researcher SMQKE wasted no time responding. He explained how the development carries positive consequences for XRP.
SMQKE: XRP Has a Role to Play
Crypto researcher SMQKE tweeted “THE GENIUS ACT WILL HAVE POSITIVE IMPLICATIONS FOR XRP.”
He attached research to back the claim. The documents note that Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, runs on the XRP Ledger. Each RLUSD transaction on the ledger triggers a small XRP-denominated fee. That fee gets permanently burned, shrinking supply with every transaction. The research states that sustained burn activity could push upward pressure on XRP’s price over time.
RLUSD Adoption as a Catalyst
SMQKE pulled one line from the research and put it front and center. As RLUSD gains traction in cross-border payments and remittances, “XRP could play a vital role as a bridge currency for liquidity provision.”
The research ties institutional credibility directly to the GENIUS Act. Compliance with the Act’s reserve and audit requirements could strengthen RLUSD’s standing with financial institutions. Greater institutional trust drives adoption. More adoption means more transactions. More transactions mean more XRP burns.
Regulatory Clarity and Competitive Positioning
XRP is not a stablecoin, but the GENIUS Act may still affect its legal footing. The research clarified that the Act’s approach to digital asset classification could support XRP’s case for recognition as a utility token rather than a security. That question has sat at the core of Ripple’s SEC dispute for years.
On the competitive side, the research notes the Act could reduce friction for financial institutions looking to integrate stablecoins into payment systems. With regulatory ambiguity reduced, RLUSD and XRP become easier to adopt together.
Community Takes Note
SMQKE’s post caught the attention of various members of the XRP community. The researcher’s choice to label the analysis “Documented” signals he considers the sourcing solid.
The GENIUS Act gives Ripple and RLUSD a defined regulatory environment. SMQKE’s position is straightforward: XRP benefits from that clarity too.
