Pundit to XRP Holders: Listen to This SWIFT Interview With Finextra Research
Jack Pouderoyen, SWIFT’s Head of Digital Asset Strategy, recently spoke with Finextra Research about where the global financial system is heading. His words covered 24/7 cross-border payments, programmable digital cash, atomic settlement, and tokenized securities.
Crypto commentator X Finance Bull took notice, and shared on X what he sees as a striking alignment between that vision and what Ripple has already built around XRP.
SWIFT’s new ledger currently has 17 banks across six continents, with more than 40 institutions involved in development. Transactions span USD, EUR, GBP, HKD, and SGD. Pouderoyen described what institutions are actively trying to solve.
“As you mentioned, there’s obviously the 24-7 payment piece. That’s quite critical,” he said. He went on to explain that banks with tokenized deposit capabilities see real value in moving liquidity around the globe at any hour, across jurisdictions. He also described growing demand for “a digital cash leg, something that can be used in a 24-7 programmatic basis” to enable atomic settlement, delivery versus payment of securities, and payment versus payment for FX transactions.
Ripple Has Already Built Around These Needs
X Finance Bull pointed to what Ripple has already assembled. Ripple has outlined atomic settlement using RLUSD as the digital cash leg. Ondo, Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, Mastercard, and Ripple already completed a tokenized U.S. Treasury redemption involving XRPL, with the asset leg settling in under five seconds.
The list of institutions building around RLUSD, tokenized funds, custody, collateral, and settlement includes Standard Chartered, DBS, Franklin Templeton, BNY, Aviva Investors, DriveWealth, CSD BR, BTG Pactual, and Meritz Securities.
The FX Angle
X Finance Bull highlighted FX as the piece that excites him most. Global FX turnover runs around $9.6T per day, with more than $14T in gross daily settlement obligations. XRP carries native cross-currency routing and auto-bridging capabilities, features that align with the settlement infrastructure Pouderoyen described.
What X Finance Bull Sees
SWIFT made no announcement about XRP in the interview. X Finance Bull was clear about that. His argument is that SWIFT is describing a financial world Ripple has spent years preparing XRP for. “They are describing the exact financial world Ripple has been preparing $XRP for,” he wrote. “And I think that is MASSIVE.”
The convergence he sees is not an official endorsement. It is a structural observation. The capabilities Pouderoyen outlined, 24/7 settlement, programmable digital cash, atomic transaction finality, are already present across Ripple’s ecosystem. Whether SWIFT and Ripple’s paths eventually intersect remains to be seen. The infrastructure on both sides, however, is already moving in the same direction.

The Collapse of "Consensus Trading" and the Birth of a New Consensus! Goldman Sachs Explains: Why Institutions Are Currently Significantly Reducing AI Holdings
The extremely crowded trade of "going long on AI, short on everything else" is undergoing a painful unwinding—markets are no longer satisfied with the "burn rate narrative." Mega-scale cloud providers must deliver real, visible revenue conversions alongside $1.1 trillion in capital expenditures. A power gap of 40-50 gigawatts, rising capital costs, and a macro paradigm shift from an era of "overspending" are turning AI trades from a matter of faith into a harsh test of monetization.

AI Capital Expenditure Faces a Dilemma: Accelerating Puts Pressure on Cash Flow, Slowing Down Undermines the Growth Narrative
Nomura Securities believes that the AI investment narrative is mired in an internal contradiction: if hyperscale cloud providers accelerate capital expenditures, their free cash flow will continue to be drained, raising doubts about the sustainability of financing; if they slow down, it would indicate a loss of confidence in AI demand and profitability expectations. Both paths lead to sell-offs. The crowded long positions accumulated during the AI agent boom in September have triggered large-scale stop-losses under negative catalysts, spreading to US Treasury bonds, exchange rates, and commodity markets, resulting in systemic deleveraging.
