Bitcoin rebounds to $80,900, traders eye $85,000 ahead of Fed decision

Bitcoin is attempting to regain momentum after slipping below $80,000 over the weekend, as traders assess whether the latest recovery could evolve into a renewed rally toward the $85,000 level.

Volatile Week Sees Bitcoin Drop, Then Recover

BTC’s price fell to around $79,200 on October 24 before bouncing to approximately $80,900 the following day. Despite this improvement, the cryptocurrency remains below last week’s high near $84,900, underscoring the speed at which recent bullish efforts lost traction.

The market experienced a turbulent period, with aggressive buying briefly pushing Bitcoin toward $85,000 last week, only for sellers to regain control and send prices firmly lower.

Between October 21 and October 24, Bitcoin declined nearly 7% from $84,900 to $79,200. Although the price rebounded above $80,000, analysts noted this upward move has yet to establish a clear bullish trend.

October 25 technical research from COINOTAG assigned immediate resistance to Bitcoin at $81,483, followed by another barrier at $82,418. Early support was identified at $80,117, with further downside markers at $78,112 and $76,794.

A Coinbase research piece also emphasized that holding above the low-$80,000 range remains critical for Bitcoin’s short-term outlook.

To regain positive momentum, market analysts point to the need for buyers to secure support above $81,500 and then break through $82,400. Should that occur, targets between $84,000 and $85,000 may return to focus, but resistance at these levels previously halted progress.

Price Level Resistance Support

$82,418 ✔
$80,117 ✔
$78,112 ✔

Analysts note that if Bitcoin were to climb from $80,900 to $85,000, the required advance would be about 5%.

ETF Outflows and Institutional Activity

Institutional demand for Bitcoin has proven inconsistent in recent sessions. On October 22, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net withdrawals totaling $635.6 million, offsetting previous net inflows of $524.8 million.

BlackRock’s IBIT fund and Fidelity’s FBTC comprised most of the ETF outflow, based on reported fund movement figures.

This sharp reversal highlights that isolated sessions of ETF inflows have not yet translated into a sustained market recovery.

Earlier in the week, Bitcoin’s push toward $85,000 aligned with temporary improvement in institutional fund flows, but further resistance emerged quickly.

Analysis by Glassnode, a blockchain analytics platform, identified additional selling pressure at the $85,000 to $87,500 range, suggesting that even a successful approach toward $85,000 could encounter further resistance.

Traders Watch Fed Decision and Technical Levels

Attention now turns to the upcoming U.S. Federal Reserve policy announcement, which could introduce further volatility as investors evaluate interest rates and sentiment toward riskier assets like cryptocurrencies.

Analysts at Coinpaper have previously warned that tighter monetary conditions from the Federal Reserve could threaten Bitcoin’s ability to maintain its recovery.

If Bitcoin were to lose the $80,000 zone again and fail to recover rapidly, downside potential could focus on the $79,200 low, with further support evident at $78,100 and $76,800. A move to $76,800 would mark a drop of around 5% from the latest reference price.

Some market watchers maintain a long-term bullish stance. Citigroup set a $113,000 price forecast for Bitcoin, arguing this reflects a broader investment outlook rather than a target for the immediate future.

If Bitcoin can reclaim support above $81,500 and surpass $82,400, further upside toward $84,000–$85,000 may become possible, but the path higher still faces significant resistance from recent sellers.
