Fed Decision This Week: 3 Stocks to Buy Before Wall Street Reacts

Story Highlights
  • Tesla stock gets a boost as Barclays raises its price target to $450.

  • Meta announces a potential $95 billion fundraising plan to fuel AI expansion.

  • Netflix faces selling pressure after weaker revenue and advertising guidance.

With the Fed decision approaching on October 28, investors are tracking stocks with fresh catalysts and potential upside. A bullish analyst upgrade, a major AI funding announcement, and a post-earnings recovery setup are putting three stocks in focus. Here’s which stocks could offer buying opportunities before Wall Street reacts to the Fed’s next move.

1. Tesla (TSLA): Barclays Upgrade Strengthens Bullish Outlook

Tesla could be one of the stocks to watch ahead of the Fed decision after Barclays upgraded its rating to Overweight and raised its price target from $370 to $450. The bullish case centres on improving automotive fundamentals, energy-storage growth and the long-term potential of Robotaxi services.

Tesla’s third-quarter revenue reached approximately $28.1 billion, while adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.48. However, net income declined 44% year over year, highlighting ongoing profitability challenges. Discussions around a potential SpaceX merger have added another catalyst, although no final agreement has been announced.

Tesla could attract further buyers if the upgrade translates into sustained momentum. Investors should watch for a breakout supported by stronger trading volume rather than relying solely on merger speculation or an analyst’s price target.

2. Meta Platforms (META): $95 Billion AI Funding Plan Raises the Stakes

Meta could offer a potential recovery opportunity after announcing a major fundraising plan on October 26 to support its AI expansion. The plan includes approximately $35 billion in current offerings and a potential additional $60 billion share-sale program, taking the overall fundraising potential to $95 billion.

The announcement follows third-quarter revenue of $64.6 billion, up 26% year over year. However, Meta’s projected 2026 capital expenditure of $135 billion to $145 billion highlights the enormous cost of its AI ambitions. Negative free cash flow in the third quarter has also intensified investor scrutiny.

A sustained price recovery following the fundraising announcement could strengthen the buying thesis, while further selling would suggest that financing and dilution concerns remain unresolved.

3. Netflix (NFLX): Can Buyers Reverse the Earnings Sell-Off?

Netflix is another stock to watch after its third-quarter earnings beat profit expectations but disappointed investors with its forward outlook. Revenue reached approximately $12.87 billion, up 12% year over year, while earnings per share of $0.87 exceeded expectations.

However, its fourth-quarter revenue forecast came in below analyst estimates, and the company lowered its 2026 advertising revenue outlook to approximately $2.7 billion. These developments raised concerns about its near-term growth trajectory and contributed to the negative post-earnings reaction.

Netflix could become attractive if the stock establishes support and buying volume improves. Its global subscriber base, pricing power and expanding advertising business provide longer-term growth opportunities, but investors should wait for evidence of stabilisation rather than treating the earnings-driven decline as an automatic buying opportunity.

Which Stocks Could Attract Buyers Before the Fed?

Tesla has the clearest fresh bullish catalyst, Meta presents an AI-driven growth opportunity with significant funding risks, and Netflix offers a potential recovery setup. The Fed’s October 28 decision could influence market-wide risk appetite, but company-specific developments will remain important drivers.

Investors should prioritise sustained price strength, trading-volume confirmation and improving fundamentals before entering positions.
