- ShibTorch’s burn dashboard fails because the Shib.io website relies on a discontinued data indexer.
- ShibTorch holds 371.37 BONE, below the 1,000 BONE threshold required to trigger burns.
- ShibWatch reports 69.32 billion SHIB burned, but bridge restrictions currently prevent further completed burns.
Shiba Inu’s burning mechanism has raised fresh concerns after a major burn platform stopped reporting updates. The ShibTorch page on the official Shiba Inu website now displays a failed loading message. Community members have linked the problem to missing data infrastructure and a paused bridge. Meanwhile, the platform faces technical hurdles that prevent new burns. Here’s why SHIB burning has stalled and what holders should know.
Why Has the ShibTorch SHIB Burn Platform Stopped Working?
The discussion started after community member Ed Salomons shared a screenshot of ShibTorch. The page displayed a “failed to load burn information” message. The accumulated SHIB total also appeared blank. Long-time community member Mazrael explained the problem behind the error. ShibTorch collects BONE tokens from Shibarium transaction fees. The platform then swaps collected BONE for SHIB before burning the tokens on Ethereum.
However, the Shib.io dashboard relies on an indexer that no longer exists. Without that data source, the website cannot display accurate burn figures. The reporting failure does not automatically mean previous burns have disappeared. A separate infrastructure problem also affects the burning process. The bridge supporting the SHIB route remains paused following earlier security issues. ShibTorch still collects BONE transaction fees, but the bridge cannot complete the required transfers.
According to Mazrael, the burn contract also needs 1,000 BONE before initiating a burn. Current collections have reached just 371.37 BONE. That leaves the contract below the required threshold. Even after reaching the threshold, another obstacle remains. The Ethereum side cannot complete the process while the bridge route remains unavailable. The exit-and-burn function relies on the bridge’s ERC-20 transfer mechanism.
ShibTorch Has Burned 69.32 Billion SHIB So Far
Although recent burns have stalled, ShibTorch has contributed significantly to SHIB’s supply reduction. Data from ShibWatch shows the platform has burned approximately 69.32 billion SHIB. Those tokens were worth around $1.27 million when the burns occurred. Mazrael believes ShibTorch ranks among the largest SHIB burning sources after Vitalik Buterin.
In May 2021, the Ethereum co-founder sent approximately 410.24 trillion SHIB to dead wallets. ShibWatch continues tracking historical burn activity through contract data. This provides an alternative while the official ShibTorch dashboard remains unavailable. For now, the platform remains under maintenance as developers work on the bridge and related infrastructure.
The 1,000 BONE threshold presents another hurdle before the contract can initiate burns. SHIB holders should distinguish between a broken dashboard and a stalled burning mechanism. The missing indexer explains the reporting error, while bridge restrictions prevent burn completion. ShibTorch needs both functioning data infrastructure and a restored bridge before regular burns can resume.
