07:45 AM EDT, 10/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were trending higher on Tuesday as traders await the latest batch of corporate earnings. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 were up 0.3% in premarket activity, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%. Wall Street finished the previous trading session up, with the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 snapping a two-day losing streak. Coca-Cola (KO), Boeing (BA), Corning (GLW), HCA Healthcare (HCA), Johnson Controls International (JCI), United Parcel Service (UPS), Sherwin-Williams (SHW), Hilton Worldwide (HLT), Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL), PayPal (PYPL) and Centene (CNC) report their latest financial results before the bell, among others. Payments giant Visa (V), Waste Management (WM), Robinhood Markets (HOOD) and NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) post their earnings after the markets close. S&P 500 third-quarter profit momentum slowed this week as a pullback in technology-sector earnings tempered otherwise broad-based gains across all market sectors, Oppenheimer Asset Management said Monday in a report. So far, 122 companies, or 24% of the index, have reported results, with earnings growth slowing to 38% from about 47% a week earlier, according to the brokerage. The Federal Reserve's monetary policy committee is set to kick off its meeting on interest rates today, with a decision due Wednesday. The probability of the central bank leaving its benchmark lending rate unchanged currently stands at 90%, with the remaining odds in favor of a quarter-percentage-point increase, according to the CME FedWatch tool. "Despite a notable pickup in both consumer and producer prices in the latest September report, a number of Fed officials have urged the (Federal Open Market Committee) to take a more cautious and patient approach to any additional rate hikes," Stifel Economics Chief Economist Lindsey Piegza said in a Monday note emailed to MT Newswires. "While the majority of officials still support some further policy firming, most also appear to support a slow or more tepid pace of adjustments." Treasury yields were mixed early Tuesday, with the two-year ticking down 1 basis point to 4.71% while the 10-year rate up 0.2 basis points to 4.99%. Tuesday's economic calendar includes the durable goods orders report for September at 8:30 am ET, followed by the Case-Shiller Home Price Index and the Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price Index, both for August, at 9 am. The consumer confidence report and the Richmond Fed manufacturing index, both for October, are out at 10 am, along with last month's new home sales report. West Texas Intermediate crude oil inclined 0.2% to $102 a barrel, while Brent inched 0.1% higher to $115.92 a barrel. Iran's officials met with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey on Monday, with Riyadh saying the discussions were aimed at keeping diplomatic channels open and preventing further escalation in hostilities, CNBC reported. Shares of Celestica (CLS) surged 17% pre-bell as the company reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter results. Whirlpool (WHR) dropped 9.3% after the company said it now expects to report a loss for 2026, compared with previous projections for a profit. Meta Platforms (META) decreased 0.4% after Nvidia (NVDA) said it will expand its partnership with the Facebook parent to develop its Muse family of artificial intelligence models and invest $3 billion in the company's equity offering. Spot gold dipped 0.7% to $4,011 per troy ounce, while bitcoin was off 0.6% to $79,432.
