The government of Cyprus signed a contract worth $1.8 billion with the Italian oil giant ENI on the 26th, advancing Cyprus's first offshore natural gas field—the Kronos gas field project—into the construction phase. The project is expected to begin production in 2028 and deliver natural gas from the Eastern Mediterranean to the European market. (Xinhua News Agency)
