The U.S. Senate aims to finalize the cryptocurrency market bill before the holiday recess.
Jinse Finance reported that senators are attempting to resolve key differences in cryptocurrency industry regulation legislation during the final working weeks of this year, aiming to push the bill out of committee after months of negotiations. Although Democratic colleagues are still seeking to amend the draft text and lawmakers are only a few days away from leaving for vacation, Republicans remain committed to advancing a review and revision of the cryptocurrency market structure legislation next week. An industry insider familiar with the market structure legislative process stated, "Time is tight. Realistically, I think there are only about 48 hours to determine whether this bill can move forward next week." Cynthia Lummis, a major proponent of cryptocurrency legislation and a Republican senator from Wyoming, said on Tuesday that her goal is to release an updated draft, which she considers "our best result so far," by the end of this week and to review and revise the bill next week. She said at the Blockchain Association Policy Summit, "I think we've reached the point now where it's best to put forward a proposal, review and revise it next week, and then let everyone take a short break for the Christmas holiday and catch their breath."
