Dollar’s Recent Movements and Market Impact
During last week’s webinar, the US Dollar was in the midst of a rebound that had begun the previous week, spurred by remarks from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent prior to the FOMC’s interest rate announcement. This upward momentum in the DXY index persisted until it encountered resistance at the 97.94 Fibonacci level, a key point discussed in the previous session. At that stage, the rally lost steam for Dollar bulls.
Following this, the Dollar experienced a decline, largely driven by movements in USD/JPY. The Japanese Yen, which makes up 13.6% of the DXY basket, exerted significant influence on the Dollar’s overall trajectory. As the Dollar weakened, EUR/USD gained strength and began to climb.
