FTSE Russell adjusts IPO inclusion rules, allowing large new listings to quickly enter core indices
According to Odaily, Bloomberg ETF senior analyst Eric Balchunas revealed on the X platform that the FTSE Russell Governance Committee has approved adjustments to the fast-entry IPO rules and the minimum index eligibility criteria, which received broad support after completing market consultation.
According to the latest methodology update, the rules take effect immediately: when an IPO's investable market capitalization exceeds the threshold set by the total market-adjusted capitalization breakpoint of the Russell Top 500 Index at the previous rebalancing, the IPO will qualify for fast-entry index assessment. The relevant breakpoint will be adjusted quarterly based on the semi-annual rebalancing process. This adjustment aims to enhance the speed at which major newly listed companies are included in the core benchmark index system, thus improving the representativeness and market adaptability of the index.
