The rise in global discount rates, weak profit confidence, and sensitivity to technology and energy positions have led investors to reduce their equity allocations. The message for the first half of the year is clear: overall, emerging markets still attracted capital, but this was solely because debt inflows completely offset the ongoing sell-off in equities.
