Meta executive: Engineers’ AI bills may match their salaries, spending limits may be imposed in the future
According to monitoring by Beating, Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated that in the next one to two years, the cost of AI Token consumption by highly skilled engineers may approach their salaries or total employment costs.
At that time, Meta may set a Token limit for each engineer. The quota will depend on whether the company believes the expenditure can generate a positive return.
Currently, Meta has not set any limits. The company previously shut down its internal Token consumption leaderboard.
Mosseri noted that such leaderboards only encourage employees to "burn Tokens" without necessarily creating value. Companies' attitudes toward AI are shifting from encouraging more usage to focusing on cost-benefit analysis.
