```htmlGLONGHUI July 15 — According to market sources, as car purchase subsidies and high oil prices prompt European consumers to abandon popular fuel models such as T-Cross, Volkswagen is expanding its affordable electric vehicle lineup by introducing a compact SUV. The new model, ID. Cross, starts at about 28,000 euros (approximately $32,000), further enriching Volkswagen's range of affordable urban EVs, which are increasingly competing with BYD's Dolphin series and other similar models. Volkswagen stated on Wednesday that this model is now open for reservations, although sales of the version equipped with a smaller battery will begin later. ID. Cross, along with Volkswagen's new Polo, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq, provides a pure electric driving experience at a lower price. All models will be produced in Spain, where production costs are far lower than at Volkswagen's headquarters in Germany.```
