Trump publicly calls Jensen Huang: The "AI danger theory" is a fraud, data center importance surpasses the internet
During his speech at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang received a call from Trump and put it on speaker. Trump dismissed the dangers of AI as a "scam" and compared data centers to "the oil of the next twenty or thirty years," claiming their importance "exceeds that of the internet." Jensen Huang immediately expressed agreement, stating that he "won't let (an AI slowdown) happen." However, these strong statements failed to boost the market, as Nvidia's stock fell by 3.4% that day, with tech stocks overall trending lower.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang received an unmissable call from U.S. President Trump during his speech at the All-In Summit.
On September 14, at the All-In Summit held in Los Angeles, Jensen Huang received a call from Trump while on stage.Huang immediately switched the phone to speaker mode, allowing the audience to listen to the entire conversation. Huang told Trump:
I'm on stage with my good friends.
During the call, Trump denounced the narrative that AI is dangerous as a "scam" and characterized calls to slow AI development as political manipulation, declaring, "We will never let them succeed." Huang responded:
You're right. We will never let that (slowing down AI) happen.
A wave of applause erupted from the crowd. However, this strong stance failed to boost market confidence.
On Monday, Nvidia's stock price fell by 3.4%. Tech stocks in the U.S. also declined as a whole, with the Goldman Sachs broad-based artificial intelligence stock basket dropping over 4%, while the S&P 500 index (excluding AI-related components) managed a solid 0.4% gain.

Core investor concerns focus on whether AI infrastructure spending growth will slow due to safety controversies. As the world's most valuable company and the biggest beneficiary of AI computing buildouts, Nvidia's stock performance reflects the market's sensitive reaction to growing disagreements around the AI narrative.
Trump Labels AI Fears as a "Scam," Strongly Backs Data Center Construction
In the call, Trump took a strong tone, describing calls to slow AI development as being used by "many who don't want to see AI develop," and suggesting such voices "may come from politicians." He added:
Robots are not going to take over the world.
At the same time, Trump acknowledged:
We need to be careful, but we can't stop this industry.
Trump also compared data centers to the "oil of the next 20 to 30 years," saying their importance "exceeds that of the internet," and criticized some states for refusing to issue construction permits for new data centers, arguing that these facilities would bring wealth to local areas.
According to reports, Gallup polls show that about 70% of Americans oppose data center construction in their areas, with over half citing environmental resource concerns as the primary reason, and about 20% worried about rising living costs and declines in quality of life.
He later posted on Truth Social, calling the notion that "AI will rule the world" a scam. Trump emphasized in his post:
Those who think "AI will destroy the world" are the "same people who not long ago claimed the Earth would perish from climate change." These are radical left-wing Democratic tricks—they never quit, but they rarely win. Hopefully, voters are awake now.
Jensen Huang Supports Accelerated AI While Praising Whistleblowers
Jensen Huang agreed with Trump’s perspective on site, saying that he “saw through the complexity of the problem,” and argued that AI safety and rapid development are not “an either-or choice.” “America has the ability to lead and remain safe at the same time.”
However, Huang’s stance did not fully lean toward the "anti-safety" side. At the same event, he highly praised former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon’s "great courage."
Coxon announced his resignation last week, posting on X that AI companies are "gambling with our lives," and suggesting AI "could kill everyone within a decade."
Huang responded with a nuanced evaluation of Coxon's actions:
I believe whistleblowing itself is not a problem, but predictions about the future are less tenable since they are obviously not scientifically grounded.
He said he did not know what Coxon had witnessed inside Anthropic, and noted that top industry labs are experiencing a difficult transition from research organizations to engineering-focused organizations.
AI Safety Debate Escalates, Multiple Tech Leaders Unusually United
The context for this call is a sudden escalation in the AI safety debate.
Wallstreetcn noted that Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a 3,800-word article last Saturday calling for a slowdown in AI model capability improvements.

This was subsequently publicly endorsed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, a rare consensus among the three.

This position stands in direct opposition to the statements from Jensen Huang and Trump. Nvidia’s chips are currently the core infrastructure for running AI models and the biggest beneficiaries from the current large-scale AI infrastructure buildout. Any policy or narrative shift that threatens to slow AI investment would directly impact Nvidia’s business outlook.
Nvidia’s stock closed down 3.4% that day, with U.S. tech stocks as a whole under pressure.
