Fed's Hammack: Need to Make Sure Policy Is in Restrictive Stance -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/25 19:381538 ET - Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack says there is a risk businesses and households will become tolerant of above-target inflation, and the Fed should ensure policy is in a restrictive stance to achieve price stability. "What I'm seeing and hearing from businesses is that we have pressures on the demand side as well as the supply side," Hammack says at an event in Cleveland. Hammack also said the capex spend happening related to the AI buildout is another source of pressure, and that it is probably going to be so for "some time." (jessica.coacci@wsj.com)
