Sector Update: Tech Stocks Gain Late Afternoon

03:42 PM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks climbed late Friday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rising 0.7% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 2.6%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 1.4%. In corporate news, Akamai Technologies (AKAM) shares gained 3.6% after the company signed an $11.6 billion, seven-year commitment with Anthropic to support its CPU workload demands using Akamai Cloud's infrastructure. SK Hynix's (SKHY) Solidigm is weighing an IPO as early as next year that could value the subsidiary at up to $150 billion, Reuters reported. SK Hynix shares rose 2.9%. Microsoft (MSFT) has introduced three new capabilities to its Copilot app, namely Home, Code, and Autopilot, it said on Friday. Its shares rose 3.6%. Genius Sports (GENI) shares jumped 8.8% after JPMorgan started coverage of the stock with an overweight rating and an $8 price target.
