- Consulting agency data show that in the first eight months of 2026, Mexico's agri-food product trade surplus fell by 12.9% year-on-year. The strengthening of the Mexican peso against the US dollar, combined with US trade restrictions on Mexican agricultural products, are the main drag factors.
- From January to August, Mexico's agri-food trade with the US still maintained a surplus, with a balance of 4.26 billion US dollars. Core export categories suffered setbacks: avocado exports dropped 13.0% year-on-year to 2.24 billion US dollars; sugar exports fell 7.8% year-on-year, recording 1.79 billion US dollars.
